Tony McManus began his solo career with a triumphant main-stage debut on the final night of Glasgow's inaugural Celtic Connections festival in 1994. Since then he has become recognised as one of the great guitarists – his dazzlingly original playing bridging the realms of Celtic music and other guitar genres. With his roots in traditional music, McManus is able to incorporate influences from further afield, including jazz, eastern European music as well as playing which draws in the traditions of Brittany, Quebec and Spain.
