Now in its 31st year, the annual summer exhibition attracted record entries from throughout North Wales, with both professional and amateur artists submitting work covering a variety of subject and style. Art chosen for the final display ranges in form from painting, drawing and printmaking to collage and mixed media, and this year the selection also includes photography. There are 158 exhibits in total.

For the fifth consecutive year the exhibition is sponsored by Aaron and Partners LLP Solicitors, who are based in Chester.

The First Prize of £1000 was won by Phil Hughes from Shotton for his oil Jetty From Shotton, in a painterly style (pictured)

Second Prize of £500 went to Alan Whitfield from Mochdre, for his black and white photograph Empty Spaces, Colwyn Bay.

Third Prize of £250 was awarded to Sonja Benskin Mesher from Llanelltyd, nr. Dolgellau, for an untitled mixed media piece.

A Highly Commended accolade was given to Joel Wynne, an artist from Greenfield, Flintshire for his oil painting Conwy Town.

Judging was by Simon Carter, Senior Partner at Aaron and Partners LLP Solicitors.

Much of the work in the exhibition is for sale at affordable prices, which average about £300 - £400, although prices range from £2500 to under £100. The Arts Council of Wales Collectorplan scheme, which provides an interest fee loan of any amount from £50 to £1000 to buy works of art, is available at Clwyd Theatr Cymru – details are available from the craft shop in the foyer.
