Clwyd Theatr Cymru is a large red-brick building set on top of a hill overlooking the town of Mold. All approaches have prominent brown and white leisure amenity signposting, making it very easy to find. It is on the same site as Flintshire’s County Civic Centre, which is also well marked.
From the North Wales coast, take the A55 towards Chester, take the exit signed Flint and turn right towards Mold. Go through the villages of Northop and Sychdyn, and look for a well signposted right hand turn into the theatre!.
From Chester or North East England, take signs for North Wales and Conway. From the A55, filter left onto the A494 for Mold. As you approach the town, there are well signposted signs to the theatre on your right. From other directions, go through Mold and take the A494 Queensferry road. The theatre is signposted on the left just after you leave the town.
Parking
There is a large undercover car park at the front of the building, with tunnel access direct to the theatre foyer. Please do not obstruct the disabled and emergency service access areas at the front doors.
Bus
There is a bus stop outside the theatre, on the routes from Mold to Flint and Chester. Contact ‘Arriva’ Bus Services for latest timetables on 01352 758657. See also information on the site about the 'Shuttle' bus service.
Rail
Our nearest stations are Flint (5 miles) and Chester (11 miles).
Book on 0845 330 3565 (local rate call from anywhere in the UK) or online with a choose your own seat facility, through a secure site with booking confirmed via email, giving full details for your records.
Book at the theatre box office, open from Monday to Saturday 10.00am to 8.00pm and on Sundays, when there is a performance, from 5.30pm to 8.00pm. When there is not a Sunday performance, the box office and the theatre is closed.
Tickets, reserved without payment in person or by telephone, must be paid for within three days.
Gift Vouchers can be redeemed against any production.
Ticket Exchanges and Refunds:
Up to 24 hours before a performance, tickets can be exchanged for another performance (50p fee per ticket). This is at the management’s discretion and subject to availability.
Tickets cannot be refunded after purchase.

Clwyd Theatr Cymru is accessible to wheelchair users via a ramp at the main entrance. Disabled parking is conveniently close, with designated spaces at the front of the building. Staff are always pleased to offer help when required. Please inform the Box Office of your requirements when booking your tickets and go to Reception on arrival.
There is a lift to all floors, expertly designed toilet facilities on all levels. Wheelchair spaces and an induction loop system are available in all venues.
Any disabled patrons or users of our access programme of wheelchair spaces, captioned performances or audio described performances are eligible for a special ticket price of £12.50 each for themselves and a companion for any seat for any performance in any venue.
For a limited number of performances at Clwyd Theatr Cymru the advertised concessionary price may be less than £12.50 in which case the lower price will apply.
Described Performances are provided for most Clwyd Theatr Cymru production.
Copies of the Clwyd Theatr Cymru brochure in both large print and braille are now available. Copies of the brochure are also available on audio tape.
CAPTIONED PERFORMANCES
During Captioned performances (by STAGETEXT) the words will appear on screen at the front of the stage at the same time as the actors speak so that people with a hearing loss can understand fully.
Clwyd Theatr Cymru is dedicated to presenting the best new writing, working closely with playwrights to bring their work to the stage.
Recent successes include PIECES by Hywel John, which transferred to New York as part of the Brits off Broadway Festival, the critically acclaimed BLACKTHORN by Gary Owen, A HISTORY OF FALLING THINGS by James Graham which enjoyed a successful run at the Sherman in Cardiff, and MEMORY by Jonathan Lichtenstein which transferred to both London and New York.
Now we are looking for new writers with plays telling stories that need to be heard in passionate and original voices.

The Celtic Festival is a celebration of new writing from the Celtic nations, featuring three of the best new plays from Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Flagship theatre companies – Glasgow Citizens, The Lyric Theatre, Belfast and Clwyd Theatr Cymru - will perform under one roof in a new festival in Mold which will become an annual event.
The Celtic Festival takes place over seven weeks in the Emlyn Williams Theatre during April and May.

THE MONSTER IN THE HALL

The festival opens with the Citizens Theatre, Glasgow, production The Monster in the Hall by David Greig, a comedy musical about a girl on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The play is performed with just 4 actor-musicians and the production style is stripped back to reveal storytelling fuelled simply by great writing, direction and striking performances. The Monster in the Hall has already been critically acclaimed, following performances on tour and at the Edinburgh Festival.

WHITE STAR OF THE NORTH

The Lyric Theatre, Belfast come to Mold with White Star of the North by Rosemary Jenkinson. This is a new play to mark the most famous year in Belfast’s history, 1912 – the year of the Titanic and the Ulster Covenant, signed in the city in protest against the third Home Rule Bill to establish a parliament in Dublin.
This poignant drama examines political tensions which led to emigration to America and blows apart the myth of heroism on the Titanic.
Belfast born Rosemary Jenkinson is an acclaimed short story writer, playwright and poet.

Clwyd theatr Cymru present Bruised, a new play by Welsh playwright Matthew Trevannion, directed by Kate Wasserberg.
Set in Pontypool, South Wales Bruised is a fierce, funny and beautiful play about family, courage and the legacy of violence.
Clwyd Theatr Cymru Associate Director Kate Wasserberg has recently directed Roots by Arnold Wesker, and Pieces, a new play by Hywel John (in Mold and New York).
